My Name Is Faten

As part of my role as Project Manager with the Lebanese Muslim Association, one of my projects was to produce the wonderful film My Name Is Faten. I worked as Project Manager,Executive Producer and Script Editor/Mentor with incredible local writers.

The film explores issues surrounding identity and aims to promote an accurate narrative depiction of Muslim Women in Australia. It follows the journey of Faten, a young woman who grew up in country NSW and finds herself shouldering the responsibilities of keeping her family afloat after the unexpected death of her father. The grieving family have no choice but to move to Sydney, where they are greeted with a mixed reception by their extended family. Faten needs to find work in order to support her mother and teenage sister who needs to continue her education. The film explores some of the issues faced by Muslim women in Australia and highlights the strength and resilience of family unity in the face of adversity.

My Name Is Faten was premiered at the Paris Cinema in Fox Studios to a packed cinema.
